Mikia Housley

Chapter President

Mikia Housley is a seasoned Recruitment and Outreach Consultant with 17 years of experience in the education industry. She currently serves as a Senior Admissions Recruiter and Community Projects and Outreach Specialist at Concorde Career College, Memphis. Her expertise spans a wide range of areas, including Coaching, Instructional Design, and Program Development. With a commitment to service excellence, Mikia plays an integral role in recruiting and counseling health care students to set them on a suitable educational path.

Due to her outstanding performance, Mikia was recognized as the 2018 Employee of the year at Concorde Career College. Her work is deeply entrenched in her dedication to offering exemplary service.

Besides education, Mikia is passionate about helping underserved communities by raising awareness on key issues in society. She holds a B.S. in Biology from MTSU and an M.B.A in Project Management with a specialty in Homeland Security and Emergency.

 

 

 

keah valentine

President-Elect

Keah Valentine is a native New Yorker. She relocated to Memphis in 2016 to accept a position with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as a Strategic Planner, leading the development and implementation of the institutional strategic plan. Currently, as the Administrative Director for the Department of Psychology, she serves a department of faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows, and students, leading efforts to increase operational efficiencies and create high-performing teams to align with the mission of St. Jude.

Keah enjoys working with students and academic institutions to create mentoring relationships and partnerships with early careerists interested in the business of healthcare. Utilizing experiences from workforce development and succession planning projects, she worked to create a graduate healthcare administration internship program at St. Jude for current MHA, MBA, and MPH students, providing focus and exposure to strategic planning and healthcare finance. Prior to joining St. Jude, Keah was the Director for Radiation Oncology at the Richmond Veterans Medical Center, managing multidisciplinary teams and long-term projects; she also taught as an Associate Professor for Stratford University, Healthcare Finance, and Healthcare Policy courses.

 

 

 

Brea Bowers

Secretary

 Brea Bowers is an IT Clinical Education Specialist at Regional One Health Hospital in Memphis, TN.  She completed her Bachelor of Science in Natural Science at Christian Brothers University. Discovering her passion in Nursing, she completed her BSN and MSN at the Loewenberg School of Nursing, University of Memphis.

 Brea’s nursing career includes nine years of Nursing experience in patient-centered care, leadership, research, and IT. She has served in various roles in the pediatric and adult patient population. Brea continues to educate staff members in her current role as an IT Clinical Education Specialist. She teaches the incoming Nursing and Ancillary staff members the Cerner charting system at Regional One Health.

 She has received various honors including: 50 Leaders Loewenberg College of Nursing- University of Memphis, New Memphis Embark Leadership Program Graduate, and Featured SoundCheck Member Spotlight- Greater Memphis Chamber.

 She is an active and proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She is also a member of National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE), Junior League of Memphis, and National Black MBA Association. She also serves as a Youth Advisor at her church, True Fellowship Ministries.

 

 

 
 

terrence cole

Treasurer

Terrence is an operations specialist and veteran with 10 years of experience across multiple career fields. He is a Memphis native, attending Memphis University School for high school. He went on to obtain his Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and is currently pursuing an MBA at Baylor University’s Hankamer School of Business.  Currently, he works as a Project Manager for Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare and serves as a Captain in the United States Air Force Reserves. He is directly responsible for the project management workflow for the Methodist Cancer Institute and the Comprehensive Sickle Cell Unit.

Prior to joining Methodist, he served as Nuclear Weapons Operations Officer in the Unites States Air Force, where he was responsible for 24 person unit. His unit oversaw $3.3B in weapon system assets over a 3,200 square mile radius. Terrence received multiple awards and decorations upon exiting active duty, including the Outstanding Crew of the year award-- being ranked number 1 of 60. Outside of his professional career, he is very passionate about fitness and spending time with his family.   

 
 

laderious williams

Parliamentarian

 LaDerious Williams, BA, MA is the Lead for IT Support Projects Team at Methodist LeBonheur Healthcare. He obtained a Master of Management and Leadership from Strayer University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration-concentration in Computer Information Systems and a minor in Business Administration from Delta State University. At MLH, he leads the IT Projects Team to ensure that all IT related equipment and software are installed within all new departments and facilities throughout the MLH network of hospitals and clinics. Prior to joining Methodist LeBonheur Healthcare, LaDerious was the Director for IT at the Delta Health Center and IT Associate at MIFA, LifePoint and HMA Hospitals, and Dayco.

LaDerious serves on the Memphis Board of the National Association Health Services Executives as Parliamentarian. Additionally, he is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. Outside of his professional career, LaDerious is an advocate of servitude, volunteering, traveling, golfing, and spending time with family and friends.
